Magnetosheath H+ phase space densities
These spectra are the x component (parallel to B) of TIDE H+ measurements mostly during POLAR magnetosheath crossings. The data are from the outputs of custom spectrum plots at TIDE website. Minmum counts and integration over 1 min period are applied. After taking the slices in solid angles of +/- 45 degree with respect to the x axis component, each spectrum is binned at a smaller energy step near zero 4 times smaller than the ones beyond about +/- 135 eV (116 km/s). The binning method has an effect of puting more weight on the cold populations. The Levenberg-Marquardt method and codes from Numerical Recipes are used and two Gaussian functions are assumed to do the fittings. These PDF files are named so that, for example, psd_Vpar_Collaps1minInt_052996042958.pdf is for the phase space density of H+ in x component (parallel to B) for the interval 05/29/96 04:29:58 - 04:39:58.

These spectra are the x component (parallel to B) of TIDE H+ measurements mostly during POLAR magnetosheath crossings. The data are from the outputs of custom spectrum plots at TIDE website. No subtraction of data points or integration over times is applied. After taking the slices of columns of +/- 75 km/s in y and z, the x component of psd is binned at a smaller energy step near zero but 16 times smaller beyond about +/- 46.875 eV (68 km/s). The binning method has an effect of puting more weight on the cold populations. The Levenberg-Marquardt method and codes from Numerical Recipes are used and two Gaussian functions are assumed to do the fittings. These PDF files are named so that, for example, psd_vx_052996043051.pdf is for the phase space density of H+ in x component (parallel to B) for the interval 05/29/96 04:30:51-57.
